Russ Baker spoke about the odd string of "coincidental" historical anniversaries coming up this week that tie in with President Eisenhower's warning about the military-industrial complex (MIC). Once again showing his civil libertarian side, Fox News anchor Shep Smith railed against the National Security Agency this afternoon with the help of noted libertarian colleague Judge Andrew Napolitano. Reacting to last evening's news that the NSA has secretly obtained the phone records of millions of Verizon customers, most of whom are not suspected of any crimes, and Sen. Harry Reid's (D-NV) assertion that congressmen have known about the snooping for seven years and is "routine," Smith and Napolitano tore into the "constitutionally impermissible" nature of the government's actions.

"This is a fishing expedition on the grandest scale we've ever seen in American history," Napolitano said. "They're looking for a select group of people and in order to find that select group of people the Constitution says to present some evidence against them to a judge and get a search warrant for their phones. Rather than doing that, they got a search warrant for 113 million phones."

"Who would trust them after this?" the judge continued, noting that the administration's defenders have claimed the NSA hasn't actually listened to anyone's calls. "The Constitution doesn't trust them."

Smith then played a clip from this morning of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) saying he is "glad" the NSA is snooping in order to protect Americans from terrorists threats, prompting the judge's response:

"The whole purpose of the Fourth Amendment is to prevent the government from doing this, to prevent it from interfering with the privacy rights of a lot of innocent people in order to find a few that may be planning something wrong. [...] Nobody wants the wrong thing to happen but the idea that we would sacrifice liberty in order to obtain safety is a canard. This is just a shortcut to make it easier for American spies to spy on Americans."
He concluded: "This is the most extraordinarily broad search warrant every issued in the history of the federal courts of the United States."

A clearly-incensed Shep Smith then spoke directly to camera: "Under this logic, the government can send to people to all of our homes, put them in a bed next to us, have them watch everything."

"The slippery slope is covered in green," the host concluded. "We're not letting this go. Not for a moment. We're not letting this go."

BREAKING: Edward Snowden Says US Spies on Chinese Mobile Phone Companies, Steals SMS data

(TheAustralia.com) THE United States government is hacking Chinese mobile phone companies to gather data from millions of text messages, whistleblower Edward Snowden told the South China Morning Post.
US spies have also hacked China's prestigious Tsinghua University in Beijing and Asia Pacific fibre-optic network operator Pacnet, the Post quoted Snowden as saying.
Snowden, who worked as a contractor for the National Security Agency (NSA), has been charged with espionage by the US after revealing a massive spying program and has gone to ground after fleeing to Hong Kong.
"The NSA does all kinds of things like hack Chinese cell phone companies to steal all of your SMS data," Snowden said in the interview conducted on June 12.
Government data shows almost 900 billion text messages were exchanged in China in 2012.
The claims followed soon after a report in the Guardian in which he claimed the British government's electronic eavesdropping agency had gained secret access to fibre-optic cables carrying global internet traffic and telephone calls.
Britain's Guardian said that Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) had started processing vast amounts of personal information -- including Facebook posts, emails, internet histories and phonecalls -- and is sharing it with the NSA.

The Post has previously quoted Snowden saying there have been more than 61,000 NSA hacking operations globally, targeting powerful "network backbones" that can yield access to hundreds of thousands of individual computers.

He said these included hundreds of targets in mainland China and Hong Kong.

Snowden told the Post in the report published Saturday that Tsinghua University, which counts China's President Xi Jinping and previous President Hu Jintao among its graduates, was the target of extensive hacking by the US.

The university, which is home to the mainland's six major backbone networks from where internet data from millions of Chinese citizens can be gathered, was breached as recently as January, he said.

In 2009, the NSA also attacked Pacnet, the owner of one of the region's biggest fibre-optic networks, the Post reported, citing information provided by Snowden.

Pacnet, which is headquartered in Hong Kong and Singapore, owns 46,000 kilometres of fibre and operates in 13 countries, according to its website.

A US justice department official has confirmed that a sealed criminal complaint has been lodged with a federal court in Virginia and a provisional arrest warrant has been issued for Snowden, who fled to Hong Kong in May.

But Hong Kong government officials Saturday remained tight-lipped as to whether they had received such a request and whether Snowden had been approached.

Former reporter for the Wall Street Journal, Michael Drosnin spoke about the Bible Code, and the various prophetic messages that have been gleaned from it. Based on a computer software program developed by the Israeli mathematician, Prof. Eliyahu Rips, the Bible Code finds hidden messages or phrases in equidistant letter sequences in the Hebrew language version of the first five books of the Bible. What convinced Drosnin of its reality was the correct prediction of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination, which he discovered about a year before it happened. He recounted how he tried to warn Rabin beforehand, and now meets with various intelligence agencies such as the Mossad.

A year before the 2008 election, Drosnin said he found the phrase "B. Obama is President" in the Bible Code, and also learned that there was danger that could be prevented for Obama. He related this information to Oprah Winfrey, who was said to pass this on to Obama. Drosnin also said that according to the Bible Code, it was Barack Obama's destiny to help prevent a nuclear terrorist attack, and that he will be re-elected in 2012.

After the 9-11 attacks, Drosnin said he found references to it in the Bible Code, with such phrases as "twin towers," "airplane," "terror attack," and "it knocked down," all encoded within a few verses. Currently, he is searching for a "code key," which might help unravel some of the mysteries of the Bible Code, such as who created it. According to the Bible Code, the code key is connected to an obelisk in Jordan, he revealed.

Many examples have been documented in the past. One cited example is that by taking every 50th letter of the Book of Genesis starting with the first taw, the Hebrew word "torah" is spelled out. Another example of an alleged prediction coded in the text of the Bible, which is also attributed to Rabbi Chaim Michael Dov Weissmandl (who was mentioned above), concerns the hanging of 10 Nazi leaders on October 16, 1946 following the Nuremberg Trials. Rabbi Weissmandl claimed that this event was predicted by the Biblical story about the hanging of the 10 sons of Haman, also as a final consequence of a (failed) genocidal plan against the Jews. The "coded" aspect of his speculation is that in the Masoretic text of the Bible, three letters within the list of Haman's sons are marked as small letters:[60] the tav ת of Parshandatha, the shin ש of Parmashtha and the zayin ז of Vajezatha. Rabbi Weissmandl pointed out that if you combine the three small letters together they form the word תשז, which in the accepted Hebrew notation for year numbers (using Gematria) corresponds to the Jewish year 707 Anno Mundi, which is the Jewish year that the 10 Nazi leaders were executed (October 16, 1946 corresponds to Tishrei 21, 5707, the day known as Hoshanna Rabba, the day of severe judgments for the nations of the world, according to the Jewish calendar). Many people criticize various aspects of this speculation. They point out that there are several different traditions about what are the small letters in the names of Haman's sons.

Gary Johnson Takes On Illegal Immigration on Red Eye: Cream Of The Crop When It Comes To Workers

Former New Mexico governor and libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson took on StreetCarnage.com writer Gavin McInnes over illegal immigration on Friday night's Red Eye, with Johnson arguing that those crossing the U.S.-Mexico border were hard workers who were more likely to obey the law. "We're getting the cream of the crop when it comes to workers from Mexico," Johnson said. "And I am speaking having been a border state governor. These are hard-working individuals, that are just in pursuit of the American dream."

McInnes, who immigrated to the United States legally, mimed disbelief. "The cream of the crop, come on! The drunk driving charges! We've got all these hidden charges about murder, pedophilia, infidelity—they can't even hold a family together."

"These things do happen, but relative to the citizens of the United States population?" Johnson said. "Much less. Crime, much less than citizens of the United States...They're walking on eggshells."

At this point, McInnes feigned a heart attack. "Maybe in South Chicago or Detroit."

"He's right about the statistics," host Greg Gutfeld said. "Because they're so scared of being deported, they actually don't commit crimes."

"They're not scared of being deported," McGinnes said. "They go to City Hall with signs saying, 'This is BS! I don't care if you know I'm an illegal! I'm shameless.'"

"They can't fit all that on one sign," said Bill Schulz.

"I think attrition is the key," McInnes said later in the segment. "You just have to make it a little more uncomfortable to employ illegals, and they go home with their tail between their legs in droves."

(Daytondayilynews) DAYTON — The Vectren Dayton Air Show has been cancelled for the day in the aftermath of a fatal fiery crash.
Director of Aviation for the city of Dayton Terrence Slaybaugh confirmed that two people have died in that crash.
Wing walker Jane Wicker's plane crashed just before 1 p.m. as she sat on top of the inverted 450 HP Stearman.
The plane burst into flames as it hit the ground. A fire truck was at the crash within seconds and the flames have been extinguished.
"All of a sudden I heard screaming and looked up and there was a fire ball," said Stan Thayer of Wilmington.
Shawn Warwick of New Knoxville said he was watching the plane through binoculars. "I noticed it was upside down really close to the ground. She was sitting on the bottom of the plane," he said. "I saw it just go right into the ground and explode."
His wife was getting a drink when the crash happened. "I came back and everybody was just in shock," said Cara Warwick.
Many spectators were already leaving when show organizers cancelled the show for the day at 1:30 p.m. Organizers said the show will go on as scheduled tomorrow.
This was the third act at the 39th Vectren Dayton Air Show.
The show is scheduled to run today and tomorrow 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Dayton International Airport.
Veteran stunt pilot Jim LeRoy was killed when his stunt plane crashed and burned at the 2007 Vectren Dayton Air Show.

Scattered street demonstrations popped up around Brazil for a third day as protesters continued their collective cry against the low-quality public services they receive in exchange for high taxes and high prices.

Brazil's government deployed special federal police on Wednesday to the five of the six cities where the Confederations Cup football tournament is being played to protect the competition's venues.

The government reaction is notable given that the Confederations Cup is seen as a dry run for the World Cup next year.

More than a million people are reported to have taken part in protests in about 100 cities across Brazil, the latest in a wave of demonstrations.

Violence erupted in many places and an 18-year-old man died when a car drove through a barricade in Sao Paulo state.

Protests began more than a week ago over high transport fares but are also highlighting corruption and the cost of next year's football World Cup.

President Dilma Rousseff called off a trip to Japan to deal with the crisis.

She has called an emergency meeting of her cabinet for Friday to discuss the unrest.

The newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, citing official figures, said that more than one million people had taken part in Thursday's demonstrations.

Brazilian media said there were protests in more than 100 cities.

In Rio de Janeiro riot police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at groups of masked young men trying to approach the City Hall late on Thursday. At least 29 people were reported injured.

Rio authorities sealed off the state legislature building, the state governor's office, Guanabara Palace and the mayor's office.

TV images showed gangs looting shops in the city centre - although many Rio shopkeepers and banks had put up wooden hoardings to protect their premises.

In the capital, Brasilia, demonstrators started a small fire at the entrance to the foreign ministry and were driven back by police using rubber bullets and tear gas.

Other government buildings in the city were attacked and riot police used tear gas and rubber bullets to scatter the crowds. More clashes were reported in Porto Alegre in the south, Campinas north of Sao Paulo and in the north-eastern city of Salvador.

The 18-year-old man killed in the city of Ribeirao Preto was the first person reported to have died in the protests. The motorist who drove through the barricade is said to have fled the scene.

In Sao Paulo, police said 100,000 people had gathered on the city's landmark Avenida Paulista.

Members of the city's Free Access Movement (Movimento Passe Livre) - which has been campaigning for better public transport - earlier pledged to take to the streets "to celebrate" the reversal of a public-transport fare increase.

The protests, originally triggered by the increase on 2 June, have since grown into a much wider movement.

Protesters are angry at corruption and poor public services as well as the huge cost of next year's football World Cup, saying the government should also invest in education and healthcare.

"It's not really about the price [of transport] any more," she said while taking part in a protest in the city of Niteroi, near Rio de Janeiro, on Wednesday.

"People are so disgusted with the system, so fed up that now we're demanding change."

The current unrest is the biggest since 1992, when people took to the streets to demand the impeachment of then-President Fernando Collor de Mello.

Joyce said that this person was identified as Najibullah Zazi, an aspiring terrorist, who was located in Denver, Colorado, and eventually tracked to New York City where he was arrested. He later confessed to a plot to bomb the New York City subway system with explosive devices located in backpacks. "Also, working with FISA business records, the NSA was able to provide a previously unknown number of one of the co-conspirators, Adis Medunjanin," Joyce continued. "This was the first core Al Qaeda plot since 9/11, directed from Pakistan." Joyce testified that the NSA used the communications monitoring programs to disrupt a plot to bomb the New York Stock Exchange. "Is a bear Catholic?" Palin answered. "Does a pope live in the woods? No, I do not trust our federal government. That is the seventeen-trillion dollar question." Palin, like her ideological mate Ted Cruz, extrapolated from the IRS scandal an argument against the organization's existence. "This would give us reason to finally head towards simplification of a tax code and adopt a flat tax and you know, that way we could abolish the bureaucracy that is so burdensome and so expensive and really engaging in some ridiculous antics today in the IRS," Palin said. "It would allow sledgehammering of crony capitalism, also, and some corruption within, the tax cheats and that whole scenario. I think this would give us great reason to make more sense of the coffers that are being filled by the American public's fruit of their labors." The IRS kerfuffle now includes news of $70 million in employee bonuses. The agency has said that its hands are tied due to a collective bargaining agreement with the employee union. "That's part of the problem," Bolling said. "It's a federal government program, we're paying their salaries, yet they're a union! Does this not drive you crazy?" "Only in an Orwellian government would a collective bad deed by so generously rewarded," Palin said. "You can anticipate that the Obama administration will not even push back on what this union is demanding for its employees. The Obama administration will kowtow to the friends who are union thugs—the leadership of so many of these unions are thugs—and they will not push back. Unfortunately because it gives a bad name to the brothers and sisters within the union who just want to produce well for the American public and do their job. It's the leadership that is engaged in the thuggery that unfortunately Obama will not push back against." Bolling asked Palin about the FBI Director Bob Mueller's admission this week that the agency uses drones for domestic surveillance purposes. "I think what Mueller is telling us is 'Hey, America, on U.S. soil, we're going to shoot you down just a little bit,' because he's talking about just this minimal impact of drones on U.S. soil," Palin said. "What this allows us to understand, though, is that Rand Paul was right when the senator engaged in the filibuster and what he was asking for those couple of months ago," Palin continued. Because I believe if you understand the enemy from the inside out, that's the best way to defeat them."

Bachmann described her colleagues in the House of Representatives as being "more frightened of real people than anything else." So, she said, "I think that there are shivers right now going up of a lot of politicians in that building," she said, referring to the U.S. Capitol behind her. "You're here and you're clear with your message," she concluded. "And your message is, it's time to abolish the IRS!"

During her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination in 2011, Bachmann's four-year stint as a tax lawyer for the IRS drew criticism from her competitors. She used similar rhetoric then to dismiss any suggestions of hypocrisy, citing "the first rule of war": "know your enemy."
